Love Assembly, International Order of Rainbow for Girls was organized June 6, 1960, in Wichita Falls, under the direction of Mrs. Martha Marie Whitfield with 51 charter members. Some of its members had demitted from Wichita Falls Assembly #17. It was time to have two assemblies in Wichita Falls, so Faith Chapter #713 Order of the Eastern Star located in Faith Masonic Lodge #1 158 decided to sponsor a new Rainbow Assembly. Dee Ann Adair was the first Worthy Advisor and Mrs. Louise Kightlinger the first Mother Advisor. Love received its number - 298 - in August 1961.

Meetings were held in Faith Masonic Lodge #1 158, A.F. & A.M. There were 12 members on the original Advisory Board made up of 9 Eastern Stars and 3 Masons. In 1964 Mrs. Lillian Brooks was elected Mother Advisor. Then Mrs. Kightlinger returned in 1965 as the Mother Advisor. Mrs. Mary Beth Wigington served the Assembly as Mother Advisor in 1970, 1971 and 1972. Mrs. Rita Adair Cason was installed as Mother Advisor from 1973 - 1975. Other Mother Advisors have been Messrs. Sherry Gray Rendon, Linda Cason Carr, Wanda Holland, Myra Harbison, Ethel Lynn Travis and Tony Backhaus. Mrs. Rita A. Cason has served again from 1982 to the present time - 1998.

The Assembly celebrated its 25th anniversary in a grand fashion in 1985 with a special meeting honoring all Past Worthy Advisors, the Charter advisory board members who were still with us and our Past Grand Officers. There were 4 Charter Advisory Board members present including Mrs. Joe N. Adair and Mr. Estes Laseman, Secretary of Faith Lodge; there were I I Past Worthy Advisors, 4 Past Mother Advisors and 5 Past Grand Officers. Through the years, Love Assembly has had various money making projects such as car washes, bake sales, calendar sales, spaghetti, chili and hamburger feeds, and sold cook books.

Love  Assembly is the founder of the "Support our troops Families" drive. The returning Worthy Advisor Cayla Pacheco started this project and the first year brought in over two, one-ton trucks full of items for troops and their families. 100 boxes of items were collected for our service personnel stationed away from Sheppard Air Force Base. Enough was donated for 250 family members from SAFB to have an Easter party with baskets and all the trimmings. Worthy Advisor Cayla Pacheco received the National Jefferson Award for outstanding volunteerism for this project earning her assembly $750.00

Our Rainbow Girls have also had a lot of fun! We've had Halloween Parties, Teas, scavenger hunts, hay rides, slumber parties, swimming parties and picnics. We always look forward to our Grand Assembly trips and every couple of years we'll make an all-day trip to McAlester, OK to our Supreme Temple. This month we've planned a visit to our Masonic Home and School in Fort Worth. We appreciate the time our Supreme Inspector spends with us at our School of Instructions. Mrs. Rita Cason's Mother Advisor at Wichita Falls Assembly #17 was Mrs. Tommy Jasper who served for many years as a member of the Grand Executive Committee of the Grand Assembly of Texas. It was through their close Rainbow friendship that Mrs. Jasper asked Mrs. Cason to always continue our annual Grand Cross of Color banquets at the appropriate time. This has been continued and our Masons continue to allow us to use our Masonic Lodge for its purpose. Grand Cross members of both Assemblies are included at the dinners even though Wichita Falls Assembly closed in the 1970's. We are now anticipating our 75th Diamond Jubilee Grand Assembly in Lubbock this June with great excitement!!!!
